The Pilates Apparatus
Don’t be put off by the apparatus. It can appear intimidating at first, but it’s hugely versatile designs mean that each piece of equipment can be applied to all levels of fitness.
The Reformer
Is a moving bed with wheels and springs and pulley straps. What is not to love! The reformer is perhaps the best know piece of pilates equipment and there is an extensive repertoire of exercises taking clients from beginner, through intermediate, to challenging advanced exercises which will give the mind and body a thorough work out.
The Cadilac
Very supportive. Fixed mat base. Resistance springs to build strength. Good for rehab and beginner practitioners. However, the trapeze frame of the cadillac means that stronger clients can perform more challenging exercises.
The Wunda Chair
Maybe small but the Wunda Chair packs a punch. Its small frame means it provides less stability and therefore more of a balance challenge to clients who are keen to get stronger in their practise.
The Spine Corrector
(to help open out the back)
The system of exercises on one piece of apparatus is complementary to those performed on another. The brilliance of the equipment is that each piece is supportive in different ways; an exercise on any one of the pieces of pilates apparatus will help to inform another exercise on a different piece of apparatus.
